Scarlett Johansson has landed the role of actress Janet Leigh in a new biopic called
Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho.
The Lost in Translation star will portray the screen legend, best known for the infamous shower scene in Hitchcock’s thriller.
Variety reports that James D’Arcy will star as actor Anthony Perkins with Anthony Hopkins portraying Hitchcock and Helen Mirren playing his wife Alma Reville.
The film, which has been in development for several years, is based on Stephen Rebelloâs book.
The film follows Hitchcock as he struggles to fund his 1960 horror movie, which became one of his biggest hits.
In Psycho, Leigh was cast in the role of Marion Crane, a secretary who absconds with $40,000 and is then knifed to death in the Bates Motel.
Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho will be directed by Sacha Gervasi and is set to start shooting next month.
Johansson will next be seen on the big screen in Cameron Crowe’s We Bought A Zoo opposite Matt Damon.
