Scarlett Johansson has said that she first thought that the Avengers movie would never work.
The actress, who plays Black Widow in Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, initially thought the idea of putting so many superheroes into one film was ‘ridiculous’ after Iron Man 2.
‘When they told me that was the next step, I said, “Oh, no! That is a disaster! You saw Thor, you saw Captain America, you saw Iron Man, those things don’t go together!”‘ she told Total Film.
Not only did Avengers Assemble turn out to be a highly entertaining film, it went on to become the third highest-grossing film of all time.
Director Joss Whedon might be hoping to continue that success with the sequel The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and recently added two more heroes into the fray.
Aaron Taylor Johnson was reportedly confirmed for the role of Quicksilver, while Avengers star Samuel L Jackson revealed that Elisabeth Olsen would be joining the cast as Scarlet Witch.
Rumours have surfaced that Iron Man 3 star Don Cheadle may be reprising his role as James Rhodes for the sequel, but it is unknown whether War Machine will appear.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release on May 1, 2015.
