Avengers: Infinity War left the entire Marvel fandom broken-hearted after its release, so when the Avengers cast sat us down for a kids’ book re-telling, we were more than ready.
A version that rhymes, with a lot less death? Count us in.
Settling down by the fire on Jimmy Kimmel Live with ‘Twas The Mad Titan Thanos (which would have been a great alternative title), the reading began with the dulcet tones of Jeremy Renner.
”Twas the Mad Titan Thanos, who traveled through space,’ the Clint Barton actor began, with Chris Hemsworth adding: ‘With a big creepy smile and his weird purple face.’
With the cast duly telling the tale of Thanos collecting the Infinity Stones, they took the liberty of adding their own commentary.
‘”I’ll finish this,” Thor excitedly said,’ Scarlett Johansson read, with Chris Evans adding: ‘Unfortunately Thor should have gone for the head.’
‘F***ing Thor,’ Mark Ruffalo helpfully added.
With the book mentioning that Thanos took a visit to Wakanda, James Rhodes actor Don Cheadle lamented: ‘I didn’t get to go to Wakanda. They didn’t let the black characters go to where the black people were.’
Meanwhile, towards the end, the Captain America star couldn’t resist comparing Thanos’ chin to ‘hairy nuts’.
So maybe not quite appropriate for the kids then, guys.
The cast of the highly anticipated conclusion to the 22 film ‘Infinity Saga’ have been having a blast on the press tour, while the rest of us shift in our seats waiting to see what happens.
However, that doesn’t mean the MCU isn’t still playing with our emotions, with the cast leaving half of the chairs at the press conference empty for the ‘fallen’ heroes.
Cruel move, guys.
After Jon Favreau, who plays Happy in the MCU, introduced the cast, onlookers were greeted with an incredibly sparse offering, with empty chairs filling up the stage, representing the characters we lost at the end of Infinity War.
‘Clearly things look a little different in a post-Infinity War Marvel Cinematic Universe,’ the actor and producer joked. ‘Post snap, there’s a few empty seats.’
And, despite the thousands of theories that have been circling the movie, Robert has teased that there’s ‘no way anybody could guess what’s gonna happen.’
Consider us intrigued.
With only a couple of near blunders (we’re looking at you, Karen Gillan), the cast have been impressively tight-lipped about the movie, with the Steve Rogers actor simply pointing out: ‘Every time you think Marvel’s pulled every single trick out of the bag, they actually saved the best stuff for this one.’
We’ve never been more ready.
Avengers: Endgame releases in UK cinemas on 25 April.
