Sincerity is pretty thin on the ground in Hollywood. But Scarlett Johansson must think she has more of it than most of her fellow A-listers – as she promoted her own pet charity by taking a pop at other do-gooding stars.
The 21-year-old took time out from fronting the Red campaign to raise money for women and children in Africa to claim some celebrities were full of ‘idiot wind’.

She said: ‘It’s what comes out of your mouth. I think certain people are guilty of it by supporting something when they haven’t done the proper research. ‘You’re always going to have people who hop on the bandwagon when something is hip.’
Johansson, who has signed a £2million deal with cosmetics firm L’Oreal, claimed she was acting to help vulnerable people in Africa.
‘The important thing to remember is that they need our help – this has nothing to do with my career,’ she said.
‘It’s important for people in the public eye to advocate what we believe in. We’re given this voice and we should use it.’
The Lost In Translation star is well known for her charity work. She supports the Philadelphia homelessness charity Project Home, celebrity clothing auction Clothes Off Our Backs and has sung on an album to benefit the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
