The traffic played a crucial part in last night’s premiere of The Prestige, as stars Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman suffered through intolerable Hollywood jams to turn up late to the red carpet.
As a result, the jovial stars were ushered into the El Capitan cinema before they got a chance to speak to the majority of the attending throng.
Co-star Scarlett Johansson was a no-show, but Christian and Hugh were joined by Sir Michael Caine, as well as Brits Andy Serkis and Rebecca Hall (who plays Christian’s wife in the flick).
The much-praised film follows two rival magicians in early twentieth-century Britain, who attempt to outdo each other’s tricks. It is the new film from celebrated British director Christopher Nolan, the man behind Batman Begins and Memento.
But while the stars smiled and reminisced before heading into the screening, they didn’t have time to speak to the main body of the press corps, much to the chagrin of those waiting to meet the actors.
