He has worked with Hollywood greats such as George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson and Helen Mirren, yet Tom Wilkinson admitted he got starstruck recently when he met one of the cast members from Friends.
“I met Lisa Kudrow yesterday, and I was just so tongue-tied, and I blushed,” he told E! on the Academy Awards red carpet.
“It was terrible. She must think I’m a complete idiot. I just thought, ‘That’s Phoebe!'” Tom continued: “I’m addicted to the show. I watch the re-runs every day, and I get irritated if I don’t see it.”
The 59-year-old British actor, who is up for Best Actor In A Supporting Role for his portrayal of Arthur Edens in Michael Clayton, revealed that working with George was a fun experience.
“He’s got all that packaging, and he’s a nice guy to work with. He’s perfectly produced to do the job that he does,” Tom added.
And he revealed why he was drawn to Michael Clayton, saying: “I thought it was a stupendous script. It’s intelligent, mysterious, thrilling and all the things you want in that kind of script.
“The intense scenes weren’t that difficult to shoot, because they were so well-written. You, as an actor, love to do great scenes. It’s like playing Hamlet – Hamlet is going through hell, but you, as an actor, aren’t.”
