The FBI is closing in on the brain behind the hacking of
Scarlett Johansson and other celebrities’ phones, according to reports.
Images of the actress holding a towel with her rear reflected in a mirror and another of her topless lying on a bed were leaked onto the internet on Wednesday, which prompted the Lost in Translation star to call in the FBI.
Laura Eimiller, of the FBI office in Los Angeles, said: ‘The FBI is investigating the person or groups responsible for a series of computer intrusions involving high-profile figures.’
Investigators at the law enforcement agency are said to know the identity of at least one of the hackers, who is also thought to be the ringleader of the operation, according to TMZ.com.
Scarlett’s lawyer has urged websites to remove the images of his client as they will face harsh consequences if they fail to do so.
Friends with Benefits star Mila Kunis is thought to be another victim after a topless picture of her co-star Justin Timberlake was leaked, adding further fuel to the rumours that they are in a relationship away from the set.
Other famous names including Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba, Lindsey Vonn, Ali Larter and Emma Caulfield are also thought to have been victims of the hackers.
