A trailer has been released for Spike Jonze’s new film Her about a man who falls in love with a Siri-like operating system.

Phoenix plays a lonely writer, Theodore, who starts to develop feelings for an artificially intelligent operating system called Samantha.

Voiced by Scarlett Johansson, Samantha is designed to meet every one of Theodore’s needs.

She tells him she wants ‘to learn everything about everything,’ while he replies: ‘I love the way you look at the world.’

Theodore has split from his wife, played by Rooney Mara, and Samantha tries to get him to start thinking about dating again.

She asks him: ‘How long before you’re ready to date? I saw on your emails that you’d gone through a break-up.’

But it seems he’s more interested in spending time with her.

He tells her: ‘There’s something that feels so good about sharing your life with somebody.

‘It’s been a long time since I’ve been with somebody that I felt totally at ease with.’

The pair soon start to fall in love and passionately declare their feeling for each other.

He tells her: ‘I wish I could put my arms around you. I wish I could touch you.’

She replies: ‘How would you touch me?’

Theodore confesses: ‘I’ve never loved anyone the way I love you.’

Her, directed by Spike Jonze, is released on November 20 in the US.
