Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, Inside Llewyn Davis and Under the Skin have been announced as part of this year’s impressive London Film Festival line-up.
Tom Hanks, Daniel Radcliffe, Sandra Bullock, Dame Judi Dench, Carey Mulligan, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Steve Coogan are just some of the A-list stars expected to walk the red carpet during the event.
Many of the big films that will be screened have already been shown at Toronto, Cannes and Venice Film Festivals.
Gravity, starring Clooney and Bullock, is a 3D sci-fi thriller set in space, which has already won rave reviews.
The Coen brother’s new film, Inside Llewyn Davis, about the Greenwich Village folk scene in the 1960s has also attracted plenty of buzz.
Under The Skin, starring Scarlet Johansson and directed by Jonathan Glazer, is one of four British films in competition this year.
Based on Michael Faber’s novel, Johansson stars as a man-eating alien.
Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave, featuring Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch and Brad Pitt, has been tipped for Oscar glory.
Other highlights include Kate Winslet’s Labor Day, Ralph Fiennes’ The Invisible Woman and Judi Dench’s Philomena.
Tom Hanks will open the festival on October 9 with Captain Phillips directed by Paul Greengrass.
The film is based on the true story of the hijacking of the US MV Maersk Alabama cargo ship by Somali pirates in 2009.
Another movie by Hanks – Saving Mr Banks – will also close the festival on October 20.
